While it is a lot of fun creating a new site from the ground up, it’s equally rewarding teaching someone else how to create a site and maintain it properly over time. A recent NG Media client approached the agency wanting help to get her to the next phase of creating a business website. She had chosen WordPress as the site platform and Photocrati as the premium theme to upload. After writing a few blog posts, creating an about page, and uploading images into her gallery, she was ready for assistance in completing her site.
Instead of handing the site over to NG Media to complete, the client wanted to continue to learn and grow. It was a great idea because, as a professional photographer, she will have regular updates to her site. To avoid monthly maintenance fees for these updates, she was learning on her own how to manage her own site.
After a few hours of one-on-one time with Kelly, this new business owner had created an RSS feed (subscription) for her blog, created several slideshows in her gallery, populated and arranged images in one of the slideshows, created proper category pages, learned a little about keyword research, and added social media sharing and follow buttons to her site.
It was a productive training meeting, the client was pleased with her progress, and the site is continuing to improve as she completes it for her new photography business.
